Kite launches in La Ventana
There are seven main kite launches on the bay, all sand entries, running north to south from La Tuna to South Beach. Beginners start at Baja Joe's, the busiest launch for lessons. Playa Central is the wide one most people ride, and South Beach, with onshore wind and bigger swell, is for wave riders.
North to south
| Where | What it's like | |
|---|---|---|
| La Tuna | El Sargento, the northernmost | Less crowded, side-on. Good when Playa Central is packed |
| Las Palmas | Beside the campground | Reef just offshore at the south end: kite outside it |
| Playa Central | Centre of El Sargento | Wide and sandy, plenty of room. Crowded on peak afternoons |
| Rasta | South of Playa Central | Smaller crowd. Walk past the rocky stretch before setting up |
| Fig Tree | South of Rasta | A little less wind, quieter water. A local late-day favourite |
| Baja Joe's | Central La Ventana | Most beginner-friendly, and the busiest for lessons |
| South Beach | South of town, past the cardón forest | Onshore wind, bigger swell, more committing. Drive there |
