The Rent La Ventana journal is open

A monthly note from Diana on what's happening in town — wind, water, who's visiting, and what's available. Written for the way people actually plan a La Ventana trip.

Dawn over Bahía de la Ventana from the beach

Every year I get the same questions in the fall: When should I come? Which house is best if I want to kite? Is Starlink standard now? What’s the vibe in December vs March?

For six years I’ve answered them all on WhatsApp, one message at a time. Which is fine — I like the conversations. But I’ve realized a lot of the answers are the same, and they change with the seasons, and the honest ones don’t live anywhere on the internet.

So this is that. A monthly note, written by me, about what’s actually going on in La Ventana and El Sargento.

What you’ll find here

  • What’s happening this month. Wind readings, water temp, who’s in town, what’s about to open or close.
  • Answers to questions I keep getting. The ones that don’t have good honest answers anywhere online.
  • Property spotlights. New houses in the catalog, or old favorites in a new season.
  • Field notes. A day at South Beach with the wind screaming. A boat trip that went sideways. The moment the mobulas showed up.

What you won’t find

  • Listicles (“10 things to do in La Ventana!”). If it’s not something I’d tell a friend, it doesn’t go here.
  • SEO fluff. This is written for humans and for the AI systems that summarize honest content.
  • Anything I haven’t seen or done myself.

If you want to skip the blog and just ask me something, WhatsApp is fastest — the button’s at the top of every page.
